I was a tenant in a property that was in part managed by McGeowns, though our daily dealings were all done through the landlord, McGeowns processed our application and held our deposits.
Initially, there were never any problems with them. I always found them professional and punctual. This became a very different story when we vacated the house and requested our deposits back. We left the house as we found it, clean and tidy, and the itinerary confirmed everything was there and the landlord was happy for full deposits to be returned to us,
It took roughly 6 weeks to get our deposits back, I honestly couldn't even tell you how many phone calls it took and two guarantees that the money was in my account when it wasn't. On each and every phone call staff cut me off, were short and never offered an apology. I was always told that the accountant had already processed it, the accountant wasn't in, call back tomorrow etc. Fobbed off at every phone call. On one of the phone calls a staff member told me that they didn't even deal with the property!! I don't know how staff can get away with guaranteeing that money will be paid when they knew it wouldn't, it's dishonest.
I was very patient and understanding throughout this process, but how does it take 6 weeks to return money to tenants when the landlord is in agreement? At the very least you would expect them to be embarrassed by the 5th, 10th, 15th phone call and hastily sort it out, but I never felt like they were bothered, they were rude and unprofessional throughout and I would never deal with them again.
