I wish I was one of the fortunate ones who only had to wait a month for their deposit. It took McGeowns 3 months to work mine through their accounts. Furthermore I am still waiting for the remaining £50 I am owed- FIVE months and almost two weeks later.

Have found them to be the most unprofessional, lazy and infuriating people that I've ever dealt with.

A quick rundown of my *most recent* problems with McGeowns:

* They have read me the exact same script each one of the 14 times I have called in the past couple of months. "The accountant is working on it, it'll be with you shortly".

* I have been told by a member of staff to "call back on Monday". Called back on Monday to find the member of staff had gone on holiday for a week, and I would have to wait.

* I have been told to call back at a specified time to speak to the accountant. Called back and was told that it's not possible to talk to the accountant, and to wait another 4 days.

* I have written a polite, detailed letter requesting clarification on the situation to McGeowns. Nearly three weeks later, the letter remains completely *ignored*.

Issue still not resolved....

In summary, I would advise any students/ freshers/ prospective customers to avoid McGeowns completely if they have any desire to get their deposits/ rebates returned to them without a several month struggle. Not worth bothering with.

Why let the truth spoil a good story ? All tenants are provided with a rent book and an inventory of furnishings to avoid and confusion and disputes during or after their tenancy we always recommend that tenants use these but we cannot be held responsible if they dont ? ...

What agent could do to change your mind?
They could have been more helpful throughout our tenancy, instead of fobbing us off and making us wait. Mold on walls in a house with two out of three residents having asthma is not good, and the fact that they didn't seem to care was concerning.

terrible. never once helpful. very rude. havent repaid my rightful deposit. which states 28 working days. any opportunity to take money. ignore emails. ignore phone calls. couldnt give me keys on first or second week! disabled my keys after still living there for one more month!! useless. thieves. and ignorant.

Theres always two sides to every story and then theres the truth never let the truth get in the way of a good story ? Its ironic that you say McGeown Estate Agents are rubbish for charging you for a missing wheelie bin ? I assume that when you rented the house you didnt have to look in the alleyway for the bin ? If properties are returned in the same condition that they were let in and all the fixtures and fittings accounted for it would make it much easier for us to return the deposit ? ...

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
