I received incredibly poor service from this letting agency.
I made an offer on a rented property, and a price agreed. Stephanie (assuming my a new colleague with zero experience in dealing with anything) took hours to reply to emails and referred everything back to the landlord, as expected. A price had been agreed an all we needed to do was to pay the deposit to secure our property. I advised that we would be looking to pay the deposit, but before we do so we wanted to know if it was refundable if the final lease terms weren't agreed. We wanted to paint a couple of walls, and wanted to make sure that the landlord was happy to do this. Stephanie was unable to tell me if the deposit was refundable (or she was too lazy to reply/didn't know/didn't correctly read my email). She said she would get back to us after the landlord confirmed changes could be made. The very next day, we recorded a call informing us the flat had been taken, as the deposit had been paid by someone else. I was extremely frustrated and emphasises how poor the service was. Stephanie refused to speak to me and carol was dry and rude, short and uncaring. I was passed to John without asking to speak to him (obviously the other colleagues are not competent in their roles). I explained to John that I had agreed to pay the deposit, but wanted to know if it was refundable. Had Stephanie simply replied "yes", this would have been paid. Quite clearly the staff do not care about customer and only want the quickest money through their books. The derive was unbelievably poor and clearly Stephanie has no clue how to do her job professionally. Carol was rude and uncaring and John offered a sever lack I professionalism that you would come to expect from a "family firm". We have highlighted this poor service over all renting agency sites and hope this deters anyone from using such a poorly run company.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Stephanie is quite clearly a new employee with no experience or knowledge in customer service. Carol appears to be someone who despises being in the office and speaking with customer and her attitude was extremely poor after she realised the flat would not be taken by us. John was cold and dry and unprofessional. He did his firm no justice at all by the manner which he carried out his business.

I'm sorry Omar missed out on this flat but it was immensely popular and, in order to be fair to everyone that takes the time and trouble to go and see any flat we have, we operate a strict policy of "first deposit paid reserves the flat".
The reason for the delay in Omar's case was not so much over the issue about the deposit.
All deposits are fully refundable right up to the point that the new tenant signs the lease.
The issue that caused the delay was that Omar wanted to paint the flat. This is a question I always take to the Landlord and sometimes this causes a small delay. Unfortunately, this was all the delay that was needed for another potential tenant to pay the deposit and reserve the flat for themselves.
I'm sorry that Omar felt that I and my staff was unprofessional. I have been doing this job for thirty years and it is never easy to tell someone they have lost a flat when they have set their heart on it.
Omar clearly thought that the flat was his and it has come as a real shock that he lost out. Stephanie has been with me for 18 months and she is superb on the phone and in her email replies.
Carol has been working with me for 15 years and I trust her implicitly. Her customer care is excellent.
Dear reader, as a test, why don't you phone our office on 0141 636 5352 and see how you are treated? Then you'll be able to judge whether Omar has called this fairly or whether there has been an element of "Sour Grapes" in his judgement of John C Boyle.
