my friends moved in first as i was at home working. 2 of the 3 beds were broken and the third had a moldy mattress, it was clear that the house had not been cleaned from the previous tenants as there were loads of bags full of dirty washing, pots and pans, broken desks and the house was left full of cobwebs and rubbish all around the floor. the sofas were broken and stained also. Loads of repairs needed doing as the shower did not work and the grate in the back garden was broken. after a while all of the repairs did get done and 2 new beds were given to us and one new mattress also. in January (a really cold month) we were left without gas for a week as the boiler had been condemned as it was unsafe. instead of replacing the boiler a few parts were added to make it usable but a condemned boiler should be removed and replaced in my opinion. the landlord did fetch3 electric heater but there was no way we could heat up the whole house with them. we were often left without gas and electric as after ringing up the office on say a Thursday they said that no one would be available until Monday leaving us to last over the weekend.
we are also still waiting for our deposits to be returned as we were told it would take 4 week since moving out at the end of june. but every time we ask to speak to the landlord he is either on holiday or out on appointments
overall this was my worst experience of accommodation and i would definitely NOT use this company again neither will my friends it made our second year at university really stressful and upsetting because we were treat like pigs in a field not human beings
What agent could do to change your mind?
re modernize and redecorate ALL houses and never leave students without gas and electric. perhaps give them a budget at the beginning of the year and apply it all at once.
