Very sneaky, don't trust them & so rude to potential tenants. On viewing of the property I eventually rented, Quilliam rep had the audacity to tell my husband & myself not to be in different rooms at different times because we might steal something! Both my husband & I own our own successful businesses, we are decent people & were dressed well - how dare she imply we would do such a thing. My landlord was only paying them a finder's fee, not using them as the actual agents, yet Quilliam tried to extort extra funds from us, separate to what was payable on a standard letting. Also, they lied to us, saying no pets in the flat but if we paid them more rent it would be acceptable. My landlord had pets himself & said he NEVER gave them instructions about not allowing pets or needing to pay more for them. SNEAKY, RIP OFF AGENT - BE AWARE.
Even now they hold the deposit in their bank account, even though they have never received any rent from us because we pay the landlord directly - for more than 5 years! They refuse to hand over the deposit to the landlord or into the Scheme. Also, they tried to raise our rent via letter sent to us, even though they were no longer acting for the landlord. I asked my landlord who knew nothing about raising my rent - Quilliam had sent the letter without landlord's permission. After all the trouble they were, my landlord tossed them to the curb because he didn't want to lose a good, reliable tenant, but Quilliam still hold my deposit.

She doesn't raise the fact her staff lied about not being able to have pets in the property, where the landlord was fine with pets and Quilliam's staff instead made this decision. If I was the landlord I wouldn't want the agent making decisions on my behalf without checking with me first! She also doesn't raise the fact that her staff extorted more money from us because we had pets, because once again when you're guilty what can you say in defence? Lastly, Julia Quilliam doesn't mention why she sent a letter raising the rent after 1 year when they were not receiving rent from us in the first place as it was being paid directly to the landlord. Once again, Quilliams' staff make decisions for properties they aren't even connected to anymore, just in the hope they can fool people into making payment to them. I'd be VERY worried when dealing with them, even if you sign a contract can you be sure they'll uphold their end? This situation clearly shows "no". I wonder why all these actions are considered to be "fair" by Julia Quilliam when apparently my warning everyone of the illegal activities is considered "unfair"?
