My partner and I bought a house through Streets Ahead earlier this summer. At first we dealt with Kai Searle who handled our offer, and was perfectly pleasant, and then got passed to someone on the sales progression team, and all was going smoothly. Then about six weeks in, and completely out of the blue I had a call from John Picozzi - who I had never spoken to before - on the Friday afternoon before a bank holiday weekend to say that we basically needed to exchange straight away or the buyer was pulling out! We were told the vendors were buying a new-build and that the developer needed his money straight away - this was the first we'd heard there was any kind of time limit, and the first anyone had even mentioned about exchanging and we were nowhere near ready. Also telling someone this just before a bank holiday weekend when obviously nothing could be done was pretty stressful. My solicitor told John we weren't ready, and to be honest that she wasn't sure she believed what he was saying. He then told us the builder had relaxed the time frame, but we still needed to exchange asap.... he was calling me about two times a day...every day... pushing me. Baring in mind I work full time and the obvious stress about buying a house, it was giving me sleepless nights. And after all this, when we did move in - after only three months, so not exactly a long drawn out process, the vendors left us a forwarding address for their new place... and as we know the area, we knew exactly where it was - it was not a new build at all, but a 60s bungalow!!!! To say we were not impressed is an understatement. All that stress and anxiety John Picozzi caused us was completely unnecessary.
