At the start of your tenancy in 2018, you agreed to an inventory that stated that the property was professionally clean and there was no sign of mould. Furthermore, you were given 7 days to make any amendments to this.
It was only when we attended routine inspections did we discover mould starting to form in areas in the property and you were given advice by email on how to combat this. In the latest inspection in January 2020, there were again signs of mould on the bathroom ceiling and again you were asked to clean this or let us know if the issue was not resolved by our advice given. We attended the final check-out inspection and found the bathroom had worsened and no action had been taken despite our advice. The landlord was forced to have the property treated and redecorated and asked for a small contribution towards their costs.
Despite being professionally cleaned for your tenancy and our email advising you on how to clean and prepare the property for a checkout, the property still required a deep clean at the end of your tenancy which was another cost incurred by the landlord. As discussed with you, we requested this from your deposit along with the contribution to the treatment of mould but you only agreed to a portion of this cost. The matter has now been passed to the tenancy Deposit Scheme to look at the evidence and reach a decision but the remainder of the deposit has been returned to you in the meantime.
The property has not since been re-let and is available just now.
