The property was advertised as a 3 bedroom semi-detarched property with a 2 toilets and one bathroom. While viewing the property before renting, we were informed that the toilet downstairs was faulty but would be fixed. Due to the fact that we needed to relocate urgently, we paid and moved in. The toilet was never fixed thereafter as Archer Basset denied ever promising to fix the toilet and the owner of the property stated that she never had any intention of fixing it. The same thing applied to several faults in the house which were never fixed until we moved almost 1 year later!
The only available toilet upstairs was faulty most of the time we resided there and several calls to the property management department of Archer Basset yielded no result as we were told that they could only attend to faults if the property owner approved! This was despite the fact that we paid our rent promptly without delay! When we eventually refused to pay the rent any further, the propoerty owner finally sent a plumber a few weeks before we moved out . The plumber confirmed that the flushing system of the only available toilte upstairs was bad and eventually replaced it!
Finally, we verbally informed Archer Basset via telecon of our intention to extend our stay befond the contract period. We were not informed that we needed to write formally to do so and there were no issues as we continued to pay our rent. Eventually when we were about to move out and hand over the keys to the property, Archer Basset insisted that because we did not write them fomally they had extended our tenancy agreement further without notifying us! Though we moved out and handed over the keys to them, they held back our deposit sum and continued to charge rent (and late rent payment charges!) to the deposited sum with the obvious intention of not refunding our deposit!
The way Archer Basset trated us is both shamful and unprofessional!
