I moved into the apartment after the previous Tennant had supposedly left without notice and in arrears. I had to get the place professionally cleaned it was that bad! Bridgefords were totally unresponsive to my complaints. The woman who came to do the checkout after my 6 month lease was ended was a nervous wreck and didn't have a clue what should be in the furnished apartment so called the office to be passed to 2 further people who didn't know! I questioned her and she shouted down the phone I...

Moved out over a month ago and still waiting for my deposit back, Countrywide has called my land lady and she is happy to release all of my deposit back. Which is good to hear. Countrywide even said I'll get it back with in 3-5 days after 2.5 weeks, it's now 9 days since then. In total its 33 days and counting. Going to have to call every day just to make sure I'm not forgotten about. But seriously why is it so hard and take soooooo long to get back my deposit when everything is ok....

I'm disgusted and angry and the service (or lack of) from countrywide. Made me sign a 5 month contract confident they were going to sell my house (or take fees regardless). Within a week I was told there was a buyer so I got a conveyancing team on it. What they failed to tell me (correspondence was poor) was that the buyer had changed his mind and they were looking for another buyer which they found. This started in march 2015. By October I was wondering where this sale was going so called solic...

Rented a house, while sorting out a new house and flats for myself. Was the worst company i have ever dealt with, so decided that i would go to a different letting agency for my flats. Once i bought my house over a month later there was still no sign of my deposit being returned. No call is ever returned from the Preston branch, though Mansfield were help full so they get the 2 stars. Boiler and fence that broke i ended up paying for as the Preston Branch were just next to useless. Glad i got t...

The staff at Taymar House, the Head Office of Countrywide, have made many errors and have tried to cover them up. Their relationship with their contractors is too close for comfort. Work that had been authorised within the tennanted property, had been started and then left for five months. Countrywide however paid the contractor with my funds when the contractor submitted an invoice on the first day he started work. The contractor has still not returned five weeks after Countrywide admitted th...

Absolute joke of an agents, do not provide a service for the tenant at all. Inventory was that bad it listed the front door as white upvc door in good condition when it had a blue front door that was damaged, bowed and cracked and did not fit the frame, house was dirty still had sellotape on the window from evicting the previous tenants and electrical switches marked on the inventory as not visually safe. Had to report multiple items on moving in including electric faults, broken light fitting s...

Victoria was super helpful from beginning to end in all dealings leading to the rental property I now live in. Thanks for the pleasant service :)...

Terrible company; absolutely nobody takes ownership of a problem. They make false promises or drag their feet over things. They managed to re-let my property and the new tenant had already moved in but nobody seemed bothered about returning my deposit. The main problems in dealing with Countrywide for over four years now: 1. They didn't keep their word on having certain repairs carried out and problems solved before our move in date and subsequently these issues have not been resolved except where we have spent our own time and money on them. 2. They do not move quickly to resolve even urgent issues for the most part but instead blame their lack of action on "not being able to contact the landlord". What are we and the landlord pay...

They could manage properties properly while maintaining excellent prompt communication with landlords and tenants, solving problems effectively and quickly as they arise. Isn't that the 'mission statement" of a lettings agency?

I got lucky - when presented with the bill for the various fees I told them to cut it in half or the deal was off. They didn't cut it in half and they still charged me above the going rate but I saved a fair bit just the same.

Firstly, all Countrywide Landlords, did you know that Countrywide (or is it Bridgefords) do a deal with energy providers. When a tenant leaves your property, they switch your energy provider - getting a back-hander from the energy company as they now have your next tenants business. Currently in the North West area, they change you over to Spark and yes, they put you with an expensive provider on an expensive tariff. Is that underhand? So, what have Countrywide done to me. I have rented out wit...

Customer service is more important than you realise. Be more efficient. Realise who your customer is. Realise where your money is coming from. Customer service. Stop lying. Customer service. Get the facts instead of reporting what you think. Customer service. Get a CRM and proper tenancy housing computer system. Customer service. This market is getting much bigger and you have gone from being the biggest and best to one of the worst. Oh, and did I mention that your customer service is appalling.
Comment on agent fees
Starting up fees are above others but as up to now, you have always found me good tenants, quickly, am happy to pay this. Everything after this is overpriced and in numerous cases down right underhand and these grind very heavily on the back of my mind. If everything after check-in were perfect, higher costs are acceptable but as everything after check-in is appalling, they are not.

By far the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. I'm a honest and reliable tenant with a great history. When I first viewed the property it was part-furnished with two beds and a sofa. I asked the agent if these items could be removed if I decided to sign. She phoned someone and confirmed that yes, the items would be removed before I moved in. Satisfied with this, I signed the contract that day. Moving day came, and the furniture was still present. I phoned constantly chasing their ...

Aside from the extortionate fees, they are the same miserable estate agents we've all come to expect. However, their fee structure is the issue which makes them particularly repugnant. Tenancy fee, reference fee, guarantor fee, guarantor acceptance fee, check in fee... and despite itemising and overcharging for every aspect of their administration, they charge an administration fee on top. Then after a year, they charged me 125 to reprint my tenancy agreement and post it to me. Disgustin...

Everything was awful from the get-go. 1. We were asked for a 200 non-refundable deposit and told this would cover the agency fees. Once it was paid, we were told that we actually owed another 300. Our agent, Will Burden, went back on this and claimed that he had explained everything up front. There was no paper trail, what could we do? We started recording all phone calls and storing all emails. 2. Previous tenants had had a cat. We are severely allergic to cat hair. We reported t...

1. They closed my local branch without warning. I couldn't get an answer on the phone, so called and found a notice on the door. That was 3 years or more ago - I'm still waiting to be told officially that it's closed and my account transferred to Halifax. 2. They didn't do the regular inspections very often. 3. When the last tenancy started it was on a fully managed basis with a 24/7 call centre for the tenant. When the tenant started calling me at weekends I found this had been reduced to off...

These are the quintessential sharp practice agents. Absolutely extortionate. Read the small print. They assume the tenants are their property. They handle all tenant issues hopelessly and revert back to the landlord anyway. They have no hands on but use a call centre and stop work at 5pm weekdays. Somehow they manage to extort £600 EVEN AT the end of the year's tenancy. On top of their monthly fee AND the initial tenant finding fee at the commencement. Then they do nothing but collect...
