This agency has been a nightmare to deal with due to their shady business practices, extremely unclear communication and the severe lack of professionalism displayed throughout our tenancy negotiations. While giving a good first impression, our agent quickly showed us what kind of agency he was really running which is a far cry from his promise ‘to always be honest and transparent with any person we come into contact with'. Our agent also turned out to be the director of the company, which was

Where do I start...
Viewed the property and was told it was ready to go, couldn't delay moving in as the landlord needed someone in ASAP.

Referencing went through ok (fees are outrageous) but I had to repeatedly chase Shipways to find out the result. They will delay you actually coming in and signing the contract until the day you are scheduled to move in.
Unfortunately for us, *they failed to let the landlord know we would be moving in on a Monday until the Friday before, at which point

Countrywide Scotland, 107-111 Byres Road, Glasgow
Would you use this agent again? No

Appalling company to deal with. I have just moved my properties to another agent and I am so relieved - dealing with Countrywide has been incredibly stressful. I have complained many times over the years, but nothing has ever really changed. They have no interest in doing a good job for the landlord, and I suspect that this is also the case for the tenant - they're only interest in how much more they can squeeze out of both sides. They are always coming up with new ways to charge additional fees

Leaders, 11-12 Cornmarket, Derby
Would you use this agent again? No

The lack of communication from this office is ridiculous.
First of all, they never bothered to send me the check-out report until I called to ask for an update, despite the inspection being done 6 days prior.
When I did receive the report, there was nothing regarding any deductions that will need to be made. I sent an email asking for an update on this too and this was ignored.
The next day I called the office and was told I needed to agree to the discrepancies (they didn't mention this on

Thornley Groves, Unit 2 Vimto Gardens, 150 Chapel Street, Manchester
Would you use this agent again? No

Literally horrible from start to finish. It seems from other reviews that they're fantastic for landlords, but they are absolutely appalling when dealing with tenants.

We moved into a flat in city centre and were shocked to find it was damp, covered in mould, and the previous tenants hadn't cleaned anything before leaving. Carpets were dirty, there were holes in the wall that had been shoddily repaired, and we had no light in the bathroom. We contacted our property manager numerous times to no

Hamlet Homes, 78 Oxford Road, Reading
Would you use this agent again? No

On the phone they were lovely and accommodating at first. I had booked a viewing and it was fine but I was emailed to say it was cancelled twenty minutes before and just told to call the office and rearrange. I was happy to do that and when I called again it was fine. On the morning of my viewing I had to rearrange again to later that day, which is in no fault the agents but I had work commitments that I could not be late for. I was told my mobile number given was not working and I did not know

Goodchilds Estate Agents, 42 Piccadilly, Stoke on Trent
Would you use this agent again? Yes

If you are looking for a house to rent do not even think about calling these people. Before signing the contract everything was friendliness and happiness. Once singed, the nightmare started. We arrived there and there was a swimming pool in all the ground floor because a pipe was leaking (ooops...). Can we have the carpet changed? Nope, you already signed the contract, so let's wait a couple of days for it to dry'. Well... if the pipe is still leaking once you have moved in and you call the age

Ushers Estate Agents, 96 High Street, Carshalton
Would you use this agent again? Yes

We were selling our maisonette in order to upgrade to a 3 bedroom house within the same area. Ushers had the perfect house on their books. When my wife rang to get a place at the open house, she was warned that the property required a lot of work and we'd need to be in a position to spend £20,000 on moving in. We were happy with that and viewed the property, putting in an offer straight afterwards. I can see why Ushers were warning people about the need for updating, and it seemed to have whitt

Streets Ahead, 4 - 8 Westow Street, London
Would you use this agent again? No

Rented a property from the Crystal Palace agency. From the minute we handed over any money they were completely useless. The day I arranged to pick up the keys they said they were still waiting for my payment- they had lost my deposit and rent (not sure how that happens). We were supposed to be supplied with a parking permit- this never happened and after months of pointless chasing through Streets Ahead I gave up and got it myself. The office were convinced it was left in the empty flat when we
