During our time with Goodearl we were beset with every health and safety, security and habitability issue possible and at no point were the Landlords or Agents in the least interested in the property or the issues we had.
Between extensive damp, black mould, leaking roof, ceilings and rotten casement windows, faulty electrics, intermittent heating and hot water our health began to deteriorate. It was only after a year of having unreliable hot water and when mice started appearing in the property (the neighbouring property was empty for over a year and was bought by a family who owned cats, the mice appeared at this point) that we decided enough was enough. This had coincided with an injury to my daughter's face caused by the hot water cutting out while my wife was giving her a shower, she tried to jump out the bath and slipped, hitting her face on the side.
The heating had been intermittent for well over a year and the agents had done nothing about it, finally it cut out entirely in the middle of winter. The house had no insulation at all and was impossible to heat or keep free from damp. Finally we demanded that the heating be fixed. We could not wash properly, it was the middle of winter and my daughter was getting up in a freezing house, having a cold wash and going out in the ice and frost to walk to nursery. Her teachers were concerned as she was telling them her house was "broken and cold". If any contractors were sent out we were asked to pay them upfront and be reimbursed however we never received any money back.
Finally we complained in writing stating the house was becoming uninhabitable due to neglect and our health was at risk. We were asked yet again to pay for repairs but were owed over £1,500 by this point and had never seen a penny back. We refused to pay any more money although we had never been late with the rent and at no stage threatened not to pay.
A few days later we received an eviction notice. At no point was this explained or discussed. We received a brick wall response when attempting to discuss the issue or request time to move.
We received 100% of our deposit back (despite them attempting to claim 99% of it) but Deposit Protection Scotland were unable to do anything about the money we were owed.
Goodearl are nothing short of a * organisation. They happily allow people to live in slum conditions and extort money from them illegally.
I would advise anybody considering doing business with them on any level to avoid doing so. We are glad to be free of them but every single member of their staff should be utterly ashamed of themselves and the business the conduct.

The petty nature of these individuals knows no bounds. They even (as an act of revenge for this review presumably) used my details to sign me up for sales calls but were too stupid to hide their IP address! Further action will be taken for this illegal use of my details.
