My partner and I moved into a flat in Kingston Street 5 months ago now. The flat is managed by 1st Lets so much that to this point we still don't know the identity of our landlord. 1st Lets do not play by the rules: to let the tenant know who their landlord is, is a legal requirement. The landlord should be registered with the city council and it should be easy to find by searching the flat you are living in, our landlord wasn't registered. Once we informed the city council of this, a name appeared, but it was the name of a company. This company was impossible to find online, and when my partner went to the address written in the city council website, she found nothing. As if all that wasn't enough, our deposit was put into a deposit scheme (there are 3 in Scotland) after the legal time limit, and solely after repeated enquirers on our parts. These 5 months we lived without internet and television, because after saying that they'd install a tv and telephone line it within two weeks of our 1st request, the above mentioned unknown landlord happened to be on holiday, and for all we know, he is still on holiday. This meant 5 months without internet, which would be a struggle for anyone, but especially for us being University students.
Throughout our stay, we tried to take legal action against them, but ultimately, because there was a risk that legal aid would't cover our expenses, we had to drop the case.
We went to see our MSP about the matter, because this letting agency and the landlord they associate with are not complying the law, but again, nothing happened.
We went to the police, because not informing the tenets of who the landlord is, is a criminal offence. However the police didn't know how to deal with it, and sent us to the lawyers.
Along with all that, their behavior towards us was disgusting: they mostly ignored our complaint as a whole, and when managed to get a hold of them they accused us of being time wasters and not important enough for their attention. There is more to say, but I think this describes the picture well enough.
DO NEVER, and I repeat DO NEVER take a flat under this agency.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Nothing. They are criminals, and I don't want to pay criminals

A little too late, the company is an absolute disgrace!
I will not be having any further contact with 1st lets, especially following the 6 weeks I had to wait to get my deposit back.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Better customer service, they should not come into the property without the tenants permission. Keep a close eye on the tenant so they don't get a chance to steal. Learn what customer service is.
