Viewed a property which we were interested in recently, main reason for wanting to view was that it had four bedrooms to accommodate myself, my partner, and my four children and that pets were considered. Perfect or so I thought. Viewed the property expressed our genuine interest prepared to pay full rental, and was then told that due to the fact that our dog was 'large' the Landlord did not want to consider our application. At the time of the viewing in a convivial reciprocated conversation with the agent, the Landlord's name was divulged to us. After some independent research, I decided to email the Landlord putting our case forward in a genuine heartfelt manner assuring him of our exemplary record of renting, offering references, etc etc. I then received a rather officious and abrupt telephone call from the Managing Director Alex Hill tantamount to a passively aggressive chastising for having contacted the Landlord independently of themselves! Surely that is my right? I'm not registered with Weald Management, they are not working on my behalf, the Landlords contact details are readily available on the internet, I did not contravene any confidentiality agreement - so how dare I be spoken to in such a subordinate manner!?! The fact was the Landlord took umbrance to the fact that his anonymity had been compromised (totally bypassing and coldly dismissing the 'content' of my heartfelt letter) and Mr Hill was acting on the Landlords behalf to give me a dressing down!!! It's an enigma isn't it how people have preconceived prejudicial opinions of others..... Yes I have four children but they are beautifully behaved, yes two of them are teenagers but they are not about to trash the property (believe it or not they have been brought up with standards). Yes I have a dog but that dog albeit large is mature and well behaved. Society is ugly with its preconceptions of individuals and Weald Property work and is loyal to those who pay them the most. A disgusting trait - greed. The telephone conversation was a pure embodiment a reflection of loyalty to where ones butter is spread. I get that, but what Mr Hill must get is that his tenants prospective or not, are human beings, with genuine needs, needs which are a communality that we all have yet we are all discretionally dismissive dependent upon money! Unfortunately I was told that the agent who divulged the landlords name would be 'addressed', and on enquiring as to whether any other pets apart from dogs (we were prepared to rehome our dog so my children could have a home) ie a cat could be considered as a pet I was told a resounding NO. Pets considered? I think perhaps it's not a question of pets it's a question of having too many children AND pets. The word legal DISCRIMINATION springs to mind. Then if this is the case, ideologically in your utopic reality, reduce the living space and state that pets are NOT permitted. Please stop wasting genuine people's time ƒÂ¢‚€‚“ good honest people not the ƒÂ¢‚€‚Ëœstereotypical sort' and please treat everyone with dignity. We may be tenants but we are human and have needs exactly the same as your own. As for the Landlord of said property we are not interested in renting from someone who can simply coldly dismiss a warming and genuine letter revel in your God of greed and be content. As for the property management firm ƒÂ¢‚€‚“ keep dealing with those who clearly pay your wage more so than we can.

Of course property owners/landlords should be able to decide who lives in their property BUT normal civil decency should have resulted in a more decent response from the landLORD and certainly from the new start-up (upstarts?) online agent WealdPropertyManagement.
Having written this comment I must admit that WealdPropertyManagement do a very good job of presenting properties well on their website.
