My experience with Fox & Sons was simply terrible. I found them to be constantly bullying, upselling and also misinformed.
Similarly to another reviewer here, I was bullied into paying for their financial advice service. The agent claimed that apparently the seller wouldn't have confidence in me if I don't use their service - even though I had in my hands an accepted offer from Barclays for a similar property that fell through just before. Anyway, to move on with the process I eventually agreed to sign up with them, only to receive a terribly slow service and a worse mortgage product. Oh, and dozens of cringey attempts to sell me all kinds of insurance. Thanks Fox & Sons!
But this was only the beginning. At the time, the agent said that offer was accepted but the buyer actually wasn't too happy it. The agent's suggestion? Speed up the process with the financial advisor and it'll all be fine. When I raised my concerns about this tactic, the agent said that he will quietly make sure not to let through any more viewings. Wow! Obviously he was either lying to me, or to the seller. Most likely to both.
By the way, as with the other reviewer here, when I asked for the ‚£1,000 off purchase price deal, I was told it's not available. Even though I ticked all the conditions they outlined beforehand.
Anyway, this was all preparation for the grand finale. After moving onto dealing with the solicitors, they discovered that the maintenance fee quoted by the agent is wrong. It was in fact DOUBLE what they said. It was now half of my mortgage fee, which made the purchase unviable (to put it mildly) and I pulled out. When I asked for my money back, I was refused of course. When I pointed out that the fee the agent provided was plain wrong, the area manager responded ƒÂ¢¢â€šÂ¬…“I can't expect 60 negotiators in 14 locations to get into the level of detail you suggestƒÂ¢¢â€šÂ¬. How foolish of me to expect a roughly accurate maintenance quote!
What a waste of time and money that was. Stay away from these guys.
