ACTUAL SCORE MINUS 5
RIP OFFS, UNTRUSTWORTHY, UNPROFESSIONAL
( AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE )
I was looking to rent an expensive property from porters Estate agents after viewing it i was asked to fill in a form with my details, I then had a call saying the landlord was happy for me to go ahead subject to referencing and they need a holding deposit of £100 which would come off the rent, I went to the office to pay and was told I could only pay cash ? Paid the £100 but was given no receipt ? sent porters my credit score and proof of no adverse credit which was fine, I then had to send 3 months bank statements to the referencing company which was fine and my agent who i have been renting with for nearly 4 years gave a good reference, however due to me becoming self employed 2 years earlier I asked my rental agent if instead of paying the rent on the 4th monthly could i pay the rent a few days later each month because of the way I was paid my agent was great and said of course not a problem, this however was a massive problem to the referencing company who failed me due to every payment being paid after the 4th of the month even though it was agreed with my agent and my agent emailed the company to say it wasn't a problem.
So I ring the reference agent up for about the 6th time because they've been slow and incompetent and also lied to me to be told I failed the referencing and there was nothing I could do unless I was willing to pay 6 months rent up front plus the bond total £8400 will I declined, I then rang porters and spoke to a sherrie Thomas the rentals manager to try and sort it out I offered 2 months rent in advance plus the bond £3600 they came back and said the landlord couldn't go ahead because his landlord insurance would be void because I failed the reference? But earlier I was told I could rent the property if I paid 6 months rent upfront ? His insurance would still be void because I failed the referencing so that's obviously not true.
I then asked for the £100 holding deposit back as I found out this shouldn't have been charged since September 2019 I was told no as it was in the small print on the information form I originally filled in thst they could keep the deposit to.pay towards the referencing this is a lie. Referencing costs no more than £30 and your holding deposit cannot be used towards this and must be returned they have declined so have acted illegally and defrauded me out of £100 which they are liable to be find for so I am now in contact with citizens advice plus trading standards and will be seeking a refund through the small claims court. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY THEY WILL LIE TO YOU AND RIP YOU OFF ESPECIALLY IF YOUR A TENNANT.
On some of their review pages they have a score of 1.8 out of 5 stars
And the reference company reviews are even worse.
