I found an apartment with Dwellings which was in a perfect location and was ideal for what I needed. I was a tenant in this apartment for 18 months and was the perfect tenant at that, always paid on time, no hassle and was extremely accommodating with new perspective tenants carrying out viewings with not a single complaint. Upon vacating the apartment I made sure the carpet was professionally cleaned and even sent a receipt to dwellings making sure it was also passed on to the owner. I had spent all night with a team of people cleaning the apartment ready for a new tenant to move in. My fiance and I were heading to the airport the following day for our 6 months worth of travelling so it was a stress to get everything in the apartment organised for receipt of my deposit monies in the coming weeks. Upon inspection of the apartment by the director of Dwellings he had made the decision to pick fault on everything, this included being charged for the removal of half a loaf of bread from the fridge despite me telling him that I will take the bread out my self which he refused telling me that I had my chance, other things included were paying towards a new carpet even though the slight mark was due to sun bleaching which was confirmed by the professional carpet cleaner, paying towards a new work top in the kitchen due to wear and tear over the last 18 months taking into consideration that the work tops and carpets were of the cheapest of quality, paying for the removal of shampoo, conditioner and a sponge in the bathroom, the cleaning of the cooker which had a few bread crumbs left over as I had made my self some toast that morning before leaving the apartment. All things that were completely unjust and that could have been resolved quite easily should the Director of Dwellings not of had such a passive aggressive, unprofessional, pernickety approach to things. My deposit of £650 was now £452.20 and should my circumstances had been different regarding travelling for 6 months I would have taken the dispute to and further. PLEASE NOTE THAT DWELLINGS WILL TRY CHARGING YOU £100 IN ADMIN FEES EVERY TIME YOU RENEW YOUR CONTRACT OR WHEN IT IS DUE FOR RENEWAL YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THIS!!!!!!!!!! IT IS A WAY OF THEM MAKING MONEY. I am now back from travelling and moving out of the area but wanted to give everyone a warning of the NIGHTMARE that I had with this company.
