“Unwelcoming and rude branch staff...”

First the good points: Hilary Hook was excellent - she showed us a property at very short notice as we were in the area for just a day. We liked it and subsequently bought it. Hilary was helpful and professional throughout the whole process, keeping us informed and liaising between us and the vendors.
However, Hilary was on holiday on completion day. We had a 3-hour drive to the Totnes office on one of the hottest days of the year, phoned to say what time we would be arriving - and we arrived bang on time - walked into the office, full of excitement ... and were first of all ignored by several staff, then grudgingly offered help. We felt as if we were intruding, said we were there to collect keys for our new house, and then waited - standing in the middle of the office, offered neither a seat nor even a glass of water - while they faffed around looking for keys, unable to find them, behaving unprofessionally and making us feel as if were just a bad smell under their noses. Shocking behaviour. I pointed out a bag that could have been for us, I was told sharply that wasn't the one, then 5 minutes later she checked it and found it was. It was handed over without ceremony, and we were virtually shooed out of the office. I have never been made to feel so unwelcome in my life, and we left with such a huge feeling of anti-climax and absolutely livid that these smug, self-satisfied little people had ruined what should have been a pretty wonderful experience for us. Rude doesn't begin to cover it. I hope I never have to set foot in that branch again. I have no problem with other Stags branches - I hope that this is the only bad apple.
