I recently had the grisly task of selling our family home after my mum and dad had died. Selling a house is widely regarded as one of the most stressful times in your life and coupled with the bereavement, I was frankly dreading it. I was so lucky to have found McGowans. I asked them to view the bungalow as their boards are peppered through the estate. I asked another agent for balance and simply chose Jonathan for his genuine manner. I appreciate an Estate Agent's knowledge of the market is valuable, but in my little mind, it is very much more dependent on who is around at the time. Anyway, their fees and advertising regime were the same and after the other agent had pursued me to an irritating level with 'better' offers, I knew I had made the right choice. I believe McGowans are a family firm headed up by Jonathan, who exudes a calm, professionalism which suited my circumstances. He spent time with me at the property, walking through the pluses and minuses and he seemed a genuine guy. For an estate agent haha. He then handed me over to his more bubbly office team of J & J (I always confused them...) and they kept me in touch with every offer, or interest via phone, text and email. I preferred email. They apprised me of all the inevitable twists in the chain and actually knew of things before my solicitor, which was a compliment to J. Or J... The bungalow was sold within 5-6 months and taking in all the emotional baggage, turned into a fairly painless experience thanks to dealing with good people. Recommended.
