Comment on agent fees
A ‚£125 fee was invoiced annually for contract extension. This process involved little more than the agent sending out a standard contract template and hence seemed an outrageous price to pay

Please do not use this agent. very difficult to deal with, will never accept that they are wrong and even took a management fee from the deposit they were holding which is completely dishonest. we are considering passing the matter over to the Property Ombudsman....

Totally professional, warm and informative whether face to face, on the telephone or via email. from the onset. Kept in touch throughout the process, liaising with both parties and their solicitors to keep the sale progressing to completion. Finally they rang us on the day we moved in to check everything was as we'd wanted and if we required anything further....

Chris was extremely helpful from start to finish. He told us all the best mortgage deals for our situation, listened to what we were looking for and explained everything to us. He was always at the end of the phone for us to ask questions and did a lot of the leg-work for us. He made the whole process of getting a mortgage a lot less frustrating than it would have otherwise been....

I have had two flats with Merchant Lettings, a company now owned by Countrywide. My mother, who was my guarantor for the first flat as I was a student at the time, has suddenly started getting letters from the Countrywide for a flat I lived in 3 years ago asking her to pay 1000 pounds of rent that I definitely do not owe them (and if I did why did they let me rent out the second property!). What agent could do to change your mind?
PLEASE communicate better within your team. And be incredibly careful about who you send arrears letters to guarantors that your files are correct. If this carries on I will be contacting trading standards and the police.

I was on holiday when the tenant left and the agent rang me up and said that they had to give the deposit back to the client within ten days. This is a lie. The tenant moved out having ruined a very large carpet. The inventory company wrote that the tenant said it was due to a leaking velux. The velux had been left open that is the only reason it leaked. This company are a disgrace. I have actively discouraged friends and colleagues from using them. If you are going to rent from them I suggest you photograph everything in the property, keep a record of every phone call (date, time, name of person that you are speaking to etc.) and attach read receipts to every E-Mail. After 8 months of trying to get my deposit back they finally paid me but deducted over £100 for repairs that were reported to them 4 years ago when I moved in. They do ...

I can only offer the advice to anybody who is thinking of using this company ... PLEASE DON\'T !! They made my life a misery for seven months , they cocked up at every stage , almost left us homeless ( we had moved out of the property which we had sold and almost lost the property we were buying as they were sending all of our letters to a plot number!) . They are trying to scam me out of a deposit. They have cocked up everything, not checking their system, saying we haven\'t paid when clearly we have. Not responding to calls, saying they will call/write back at a certain time and never do. Total cowboys! Not messed up EVERYTHING, get a call centre in the UK or at least assign one person to understand your case, communicate, respond to calls on time? stop trying to scam money? To be honest, I\'ll never use them again!

Claire our mortgage adviser was absolutely brilliant and did everything she could to ensure things went smoothly, she was helpful, courteous and proactive. The people in Gascoigne Pees in Basingstoke were really good too in taking and passing on messages if Claire was with clients. The only disappointment was when Claire was away on annual leave and the people who were supposed to handle our case were not that efficient. The most unhelpful group of people I have ever had to deal with. They work in conjunction with our primary estate agents Entwistle Green in Preston (I'm not too sure how it works) and constantly call my housemates and me asking for money we DO NOT owe, purely because they have not read our file properly and don't have a clue what is going on (One of the girls is Canadian so was asked to pay up front for 12 months which she did, therefore does not have a direct debit set up and they still call us...
