We used Ashtons and were very underwhelmed by their management of our property. We were living overseas and on a number of occasions if work needed to be done on the house they would use their own preferred users, carry out the work and send us the bill, prior to letting us know there was even a problem. This was very frustrating as we had already issued them with a list of people we wanted to carry out any work if needed. Our tenants often gave us late rental payments and the agents refused to set up a standing order instead they agreed with the tenant to accept a cheque which meant that we never received cleared funds into our account on the date we expected, this then lead to us being charged for our late mortgage payments.

In fact whenever we approached Ashtons Letttings team regarding any issue we were unhappy with we were often left with the impression that their commitment was always to the tenant rather than the fee paying landlord.

I had to constantly chase them to ensure they were doing their jobs correctly, and from overseas with the time difference it was difficult. They made a number of mistakes and never apologised for anything.
