SEYMOURS LETTINGS MANAGEMENT
WOKING .
Beware of this firm, according to public domain information they were prosecuted in the Woking Magistrates Court on the 11th Feb 2011, and find £1000 plus costs. Also, according to respected long time business report providers Dunn & Bradstreet, Seymours also have a County Court Judgement registered against them dated 24/05/2012. Furthermore, according to D&B the overall condition of the business is said to be ¢â‚¬Å“worse than average for the industry¢â‚¬Â
Had I known this before entering into dialogue with the company I would have avoided what can only be described as their questionable conduct. First of all they described a property I was interested in as having four bedrooms when on viewing it had only three, the fourth being nothing more than a storage area under the eaves of the upper floor, in which one could not stand up.
Their misrepresenting progressed by informing me that it was a LONG LET when it turned out to be anything but the three years I had been assured of. On the question of their charges, as no terms of business were displayed on their web site I requested IN WRITING, confirmation of their charges. That was never forthcoming, instead I received a telephone call from a very pushy Louise who informed me that the best way of submitting my offer to the landlord was if I fill in an application form over the telephone which would include supplying my debit/credit card details which would be used to take £500 once the offer had been accepted. I explained that no way was I going to supply such personal data over the telephone and that until I had received confirmation that the matter of a dog being allowed had been agreed then it was pointless making an offer. Interestingly several days had elapsed since I had queried the dog and still no confirmation either way. Despite all of this she agreed to submit my offer without the card details.
The following day she informed me that the landlord was not looking for a long let and had recently put in an application to have the house demolished and two properties to be built in its place and that he was only interested in a 12 month agreement. I was not surprised at this because throughout our discussions all she did was hammer home a 12 month agreement ignoring my request for a three year term.
Out of interest I checked the planning records for the subject property and surprise surprise it turned out that the landlord had in fact applied for planning permission, but not recently. In 2012 he had submitted plans and the local Council had refused him on the 25th Sept 2013. So what was Seymours trying to achieve?
Finally, I checked the history of the property on Zoopla to discover that the RECENTLY INSTALLED CENTRAL HEATING I had been assured of existed had in fact been installed in 2010 at a time the house had been marketed by¢â‚¬Â¦..SEYMOURS.
I respectfully suggest that given the overall conduct of this company they are not fit for purpose, and as for their membership of ARLA, I am at a loss as to how they hold such accreditation.
