I was looking to sell my home last year and Bacon were one of 4 agents that provided a valuation.
They valued the property at over £25,000 LESS than 2 other agents and were not able to back up this valuation with any evidence of other sales. Having tracked the sales of properties in my road very closely (in order to get a rough idea of our value) I knew that the only possible reason they would do this would be to achieve a quick sale for their benefit.
The amount lost to the vendor in the selling price would appear to be no skin off their nose, especially as this £25k difference in sale price has only a very small impact on their fee.
They failed to follow up their valuation in writing.
They also bodged a couple of viewings for properties I was looking at as a buyer, either failing to turn up with no explanation provided, or had not informed the vendor of the appointment.
