Dawsons have been charging very high maintenance, insurance and other charges for years for the small block where I own a flat. There was never any money in reserve because so much went on fees. I could not get the other leaseholders to set up a Right To Manage company. However, a new leaseholder arrived last year who was on message. We set up an RTM which has halved our insurance costs, reduced our maintenance costs and taken away the concern that Dawsons are about to discover yet another major project that needs a surveyor and an a management fee. It is the way forward fellow-sufferers: get together with the other people in your block and set up an RTM company: as long as half or more of you want to do it, the freeholder is obliged to accept. It\'s not difficult: get on Google now!
