I was looking to sell my Father’s house after his passing and invited a couple of local Estate Agents around to offer their valuations. The house was built in 1964 and is an ex authority property in need of quite a bit of updating. I am a realistic type of person and had a ‘ball park’ figure in mind, after conducting my own research.
The first fellow arrived, (Y*** M***) took some measurements and gave me his assessment. “Needs this, needs that, you can only expect.....blah”. His assessment was about ten grand below my own estimate which left me feeling quite deflated. It was as though he wanted to buy it himself or he had some investor ready and waiting.
An hour later, Matt Heathcote from Priory Property Services (Tunstall branch) arrives. To say that he was enthusiastic about selling my property and for the best price is a bit of an understatement. He told me his professional history and detailed to me several properties that he had sold in the same and neighbouring areas. He gave me his valuation of the property which was twenty grand higher than the first estate agent and ten grand higher than my own, their fees were a couple of hundred pounds cheaper too! Was he naive, a fly boy or did he just know his onions? Anyway I took the plunge and chose Priory. Matt recommended several solicitors with which they had good working relationships and the long story short is that six weeks later the sale of the property was completed and the money is in my bank account all be it a few bob under Matt’s estimate but a few bob over mine.
My communications were mainly with Matt and sometimes Judi Poletto but at all times I was treated with courteously and in a professional manner with every step of the process explained to me along the way. I am a very satisfied customer.
