As landlords with a single property, we were bitterly disappointed by Homepoint, who failed to deliver almost all the promised services. Only one member of staff, Paul, really tried to help. They suddenly reduced the agreed rent, and did nothing when we complained. After 10 months of trying, we reported them to the Ombudsaman, who got them to pay us in a few days. Whenever we had work done, they never once got two proper written quotes as they'd promised in the contract, in spite of repeated requests from us to do so. Similarly, we never got receipts for the money we paid for repairs. They failed to make the promised 6 monthly visits to the property, so that we were very shocked to find a serious damp problem when we came to sell it. We wanted a quick sale and had to reduce the price by several thousand pounds because of this.
Comment on agent fees
We knew the fees beforehand, and accepted them. The problem is that they did very little to earn those fees.
