Possibly the worst experience of moving house. I moved into my first rented property and like most 19 year olds I was really excited.. However,if I had known that I would encounter half of the problems I've experienced I would never have moved in. Myself and my partner were lied to continuously throughout the process, we were told the house would be 'deep cleaned' before we moved in,which was the biggest lie of all. On our move date which was last Saturday we opened with the door and it was absolutely disgusting,I had to bleach everything before we could even think of putting anything in the cupboards,they are covered in mould and smell terrible. That evening we got locked out because a second door at the front of the house had closed behind us on the way out,the estate agents had told us they didn't have a key for it and it was being kept open for the meantime with a stone?, wow. We decided to put the heating on much to our disgust that they hadn't even bothered to check any of the electrics in the house and there has been no heating since Saturday( now Thursday) bare in mind this old house hasn't had anyone living here for months at all,I also suffer with severe asthma which they were aware of as we made them aware of the implications damp in the property can have on my condition. We then discovered the gas fire is not working along with the hob. On our viewing we asked if it would be possible to paint the property( currently a washed out blue) to a neutral colour or white. We were assured this would all be fine and landlord had apparently said it was all ok as long as it was done at a professional standard,good news!. We then double checked with the estate agents yesterday as we'd already payed for paints etc and someone to come out and decorate weeks ago,Rachel turned around and denied ever saying anything about painting,not only did she make us look like utter liars,why the hell would be put ourself out of pocket by going to all the trouble of getting someone in and paying for supplies? To top it all of we had constant issues with the furnishings as it was advertised as flexible furnishings,however when we asked if we were able to remove one wardrobe as we already had two,they refused as the landlord had no storage space for it,we had problems again and again with the simple removal and small furniture which simply highlighted that their was no flexibility at all? Why advertise something if you going to mess people around and refuse remove anything. I've never come across such an unprofessional company in my life. We also haven't received out infantry and we've been here 6 days can you believe it!!!! We've asked continuoulsy but clearly don't care enough to sort anything out. I really don't know how they can take money from hard working people and not do their side of the bargain. I'm completely disgusted to be quite honest,And I will be taking my complaints a lot higher, I'm not paying nearly £800 a month to live somewhere I'm really unhappy. It's just a shame it's so early on and I've had to put up with this when it's supposed to be the most exciting part.
