In general, I found that all the staff at Bradleys were polite, friendly and helpful. When I arranged a viewing at Horseshoe cottage, Mr French was waiting for me at the property, but I did find that the information he gave me was rather vague. He led me to believe that the cottage was on a band A council tax rating, although he wasn't really sure. It turned out to be a band C. (This we only discovered after we had moved in).
He also led us to believe that parking wouldn't be a problem and that with permission, we could park in the neighbours, large parking area to the rear of the house. This was untrue and led to a rather unfortunate 'falling out' and misunderstanding with the neighbours! We then discovered that Bradleys themselves had indeed 'had words' with the neighbours after parking in this area without permission and even after the warnings, had continued using the area and informing us that it would be fine to use!
The only other issue I have, is with the maintenance team at the Exmouth branch.
The gates to the side of the property are in a state of disrepair and I emailed and phoned the Exmouth branch within the first 7 days of moving in, to seek advice and permission to get them repaired. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back from them yet, as they said they would have to speak to the landlord and get back to me. That was over a month ago and still no word.
So, like I said, I was generally happy with Bradleys apart from these few issues.
What agent could do to change your mind?
I'm afraid the referencing process really put me off. I have never had to use a different company to submit references online before and having to send copies of my bank statements via email really worried me. I found that the referencing was very impersonal and I didn't feel that the process was accurate enough as it was all done via a computer generated questionnaire.
I felt that Bradleys would have told me whatever I wanted to hear, provided they got me to rent the property.

Comment on agent fees
I think fees for these services are too expensive across the board and not limited to just Bradleys. I didn't like having to deal with a different company for the references, especially when I had to email 3 months worth of bank statements to them! That I found very unnerving.

With regards to agents fees we use Van Mildert, an industry leader, for all of our referencing for the protection that they provide for both landlords and tenants.
