A string of issues over the years. After a no-show on the initial viewing, we had Dan come show us the apartment. Great place but in need of a little TLC - this would be handled before we moved in. It wasn't. The apartment was dirty and certainly not professionally cleaned when we moved in. Our favourite was the mold on the showers and the finger/toe-nails (and a couple of discarded fake nails) throughout. We couldn't move our stuff in because we had to clean throughout. We were also missing a letterbox so you could see straight in.
After we cleaned ourselves, we chased for weeks to get the letterbox fixed and various other fixes completed. Many, many emails.
The next few years saw every single problem (and they weren't really that major) dragged out for weeks. Every issue needed chasing time and time again. They are unresponsive to the extreme unless it was them chasing for a rent increase. Which speaks volumes.
The contract renewal prices (up to £90) are absolutely extortionate for the level of service. Whenever we've rented with other companies, they've never charged for a renewal so we're still at a loss as to how they can justify this.
The sheer amount of wasted time emailing and calling is amazing. For anyone with a full-time job, the level of frustration will be MASSIVE. If you take all the good practice (communication, transparency, follow-up, fairness) that you'd like to see from an agent - imagine the polar opposite. Just don't bother. It really, REALLY, isn't worth it. Promise.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Sadly nothing. We have no faith in their ability. We couldn't possibly begin to imagine using Belvoir ever again.
