FirstPort’s management of our residential area is diabolical. They have been charging us completely unreasonable fees for years now and they prioritise unnecessary, expensive jobs over sorting out issues which are easy and provide the most benefit. They are utterly abysmal at managing their pool of contractors, most of whom are completely incompetent. 1-2 years ago we paid over £5000 for our motorised entrance gates to be refurbished and new parts fitted. They have broken multiple times since and we are still getting charged thousands of pounds a year for the same useless contractor to come back to do the same bodged repair. There is no accountability. We also now pay £700 a year for a gate “service” which isn’t required according to another gate contractor we have recently consulted with. At one point, the ‘approved’ gate contractor wanted to charge us over £1000 to fix one of their unsuitable repairs and a resident who is friends with a gate contractor got him out to take a look and he fixed it by turning the photo cell 2 degrees. Utter incompetence. Unfortunately, we’re in a difficult position as we can’t sack FirstPort because they are engaged by the freeholder who doesn’t have to pay any of the costs and who therefore doesn’t really care. We are currently paying almost £200 a month each in service charges, there are 11 properties on our estate and we are now considering getting legal advice as the charges have become obscene. They have changed their name multiple times over recent years too, never a good sign. They use to be called Peverel, then something else - have lost count. Avoid them like the plague.
