I'm in the same boat - get a response re. Ts&Cs, it is never mentioned as an additional charge. PLEASE can you raise a complaint with the FCA and the ASA, both of whom supposedly regulate these guys and if doing their jobs properly will take enforcement and ensure we get refunds! ...
