Avoid these people like the plague. They are rude, incompetent and are purely after your money. We rented with this agency for a year and a half. We have been excellent tenants and always paid our rent on time except for the last month because the letting agents advised us to cancel our standing order. Upon moving in we spotted a few faults to the property. One being that we couldn't open some windows which we raised. It took a year for the letting agents to send a handy man to look at this. The gas meter at the house went a number of times and we were left at the weekend without gas. I left messages asking if the agents could call me back and no one bothered to reply. They eventually contacted my partner to tell him that the meter wasn't their problem. Additionally when we moved in the agents passed on an electric card and gas key to use to top up the meter, which we did so, thinking we were paying for all utilities as needed. Little did we know that there were debts on the account from the previous user that our top ups were paying off. This caused massive hassles with the providers and have only just been settled. Our bathroom had a poorly fitted shower screen which meant that water leaked down through the ceiling causing damp and mold. We informed the agents of this in November. Leave it with us they said. Come February we were still leaving it with them and had to chase up because the leaking had got worse. The lock on our front door went and I called up yet again. No one came out quickly. We were left for days with an unsecure door which meant our insurance and I am assuming the landlords insurance was invalid too. Someone did eventually come and fix it but the lock broke a second time. Again someone came to fix it but didn't have the right parts and so fixed it in a way that meant we had to lock the door from the inside or someone would be able to get in from the outside, whereas before it was still quite secure if the handle was up. Upon leaving the property the agents have had the audacity to try and charge us for poor paint work that was actually present when we moved in and weeds in between paving stones. When we moved in the lawn had not been mowed but obviously weeds are unacceptable. All in all a pretty lousy service. The staff are rude. They don't get back to you and when they eventually do they ignore half your questions. I contacted Leanne to ask her how I should go about paying our final rent as we were told to cancel our direct debit. She failed to provide bank details despite me asking again meaning our last payment was late. She also didn't get back to me with details of how our final check out went (I was not able to attend) until I contacted her. When she did get back she said she had discussed all the issues with my brother who was present. Given that they charge a £75 check out fee, I don't see how it is my brother's job to report back to me. The only time they communicate with you is when they want something and that is basically your money. Had the property and area we stayed in not been so nice we would not have continued our let with this company. I would not recommend these jokers to anyone. It shocks me that they have won a customer service award because their customer service was no existent.
Comment on agent fees
The fees went up but the agents service remained consistently poor which is why I am dissatisfied with the fee.
