I have came in contact with Sirin to begin with, then Athina as the property manager and then no one from the Property Company has informed that she has left and the new PM has been assigned: Agi Katsiris.
I am utterly disgusted by the service or more the lack of it provided by this estate agency.
I had a pleasure (or rather misfortune) of speaking to the main estate manager: Ricky, who as the rest of his staff was rude, obnoxious, did not let me speak (maybe they were taking advantage of a single, European female?), interrupted all the time (we met face to face), disrespectful and unspeakably unprofessional.
I took over the joint tenancy from the girl that moved out (lucky her) and moved in with an Irish chap. Nothing wrong about that, until he started smoking weed in the house. Before I move to this, I would like to mention that the said girl left a total mess in the room: dust everywhere and it looked liked it has not been cleaned in months and a broken the mirror. I took pictures of everything and emailed them to Athina, Sirin and Ricky letting them know of the situation. I asked for the mirror to be replaced at no extra costs, which did not happen: it had not even been addresses. No one reacted and but they did say, I took over the tenancy and should have done the inventory (charged at GBP 200.00) before I moved in, although there was an inventory carried out at the beginning of lease (I moved in 4 months into the lease). Putting this aside, after only a few weeks, I started having some serious issues with the guy mentioned over and over again. There was absolutely no action, so I emailed them again saying: I would like to bring very important things to your attention. I tried to reach compromise and resolve them between my flatmate, but to no avail.
First of all, he breaches two points of the Tenancy Agreement at once:
Point 6 L)ii: the property is used for illegal use: he smokes cannabies along with his friends and guests
Point 6 Zf): he smokes and allows his guests and visitors to smoke within the property
It is a health threat and a nuisance to me and caused the damage to the hallway as the smell had been absorbed. Regardless of whether he and/or his guests are smoking or not, it is always very loud, even after 11 PM: they play keyboard (could easily bet he piano, gathering from how loud this is), are singing very loudly and play loud music. I remarked on this more than on one occassion, but it does not bring any results. It is very disturbing and it is in fact breach of the Tenancy Agreement.
Please kindly resolve this issue for me within the next two weeks, as one cannot live in the above-mentioned conditions.
There was still no action, so this is when I went in there in person and spoke to their main manager: Ricky. He told me that this is not a breach of the tenancy and that what is written in the tenancy are in fact just guidelines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ricky added that the eviction process can take anything from 6 months to years, so they are not even bothered starting it. I could not believe my ears!!!! The situation was getting worse and worse with my flatmate and his friends having really loud parties, playing keyboard and smoking weed, so that I could smell it in my room with my and his doors closed! I was pushed to the limit and I reported this to the police and received a crime reference number with the police coming in the next morning (as I called at 1 AM). I reported it to the Property Company and was yelled at by Athina that I have to give them the copy of the report, to which I told her it costs GBP 10.00 (info from the police) and she should pay it herself, since she is the one requesting it. She then hang up. I requested to be released from the lease and be able to leave the flat without any financial charges, but as you all have guesses, it was not possible. I had to stay with a drug addict and drunkard until the lease finishes, as I could not afford to pay for 2 places at the same time if I was to find a new place and ditch the one I stayed in.
The series of problems started of course, after we moved out and they sent us the list of deductions after check-out inventory. Please note that they will charge you GBP 5.00 to change the bulb!!! and oh, does not matter how clean you leave the place, they will still say: "flat cleaned domestically, requires professional cleaning" and more ridiculous things like this. The took off GBP 300.00 off me and the same off the infamous Irish. I just wanted my money back, so I did not even say anything and the new property manager: Agi Katsiris starting making up excuses why he cannot send the deposit back. First one was that the other tenant did not get back to him, so he does not know if he wants to dispute anything: he put the wrong e-mail address, which I pointed out. Then he did not get back to me for weeks, although I called and e-mailed. He then told me that suddenly the other tenant got in touch and they were poorly over the weeks, and could not switch their computer on and did not see their e-mails (those people really do exist??). My favourite one was when Agi said that the other tenant will be disputing something 3 days before the dispute was meant to come back to Tenant Deposit Scheme. Then no reply from Agi, I called and emailed and nothing. Then eventually I got through to Johnny/John who had decency to listen to what I said and had a courtesy to say that not coming back to tenants and keeping them in dark is not their common practice, to which I was not convinced at all. The day before the deposit was due to go back to TDS, I told the agent that he did not tell me about what is being disputed and that obviously he cannot sent the deposit back without me seeing the list of disputed things and that I will then add my list as well (hey, if I was going to fight after all, I was going to go for it at last), so if he did not hear back from the other tenant on deductions, he has to return my share of the deposit immediately. Had my money back the next day after 3 weeks from moving out date, to what I see is quick compared to other reviews.
Please guys, be aware of this agency and do not give them business: they will just take your money and then some more.
I had horrible experience with them and cannot imagine how their accreditation from the National Approved Letting Scheme has not been revoked yet and how they are still a member of Property Ombudsman Agents Scheme? If anyone with power reads it, would you be able to make sure this agency is off the market and bears very high costs for mistreating their clients and for abusive and insulting behaviour.
What goes round, comes around, so it will catch up with this estate agency and its people.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Give me all my money back that I paid for the flat for the duration of my stay and my deducted share of the deposit
