GReades Residential are all about the money. Intimidating, unfriendly, disorganised and greedy without fail. They have tried to keep our entire deposit despite the property being immaculate. They have also ruined the previously good relationship we enjoyed with our landlord (who was forced to include them following a change in legislation) and have left us feeling bitter about our whole experience. As a tenant their letters/actions can be very intimidating. I had problems with my heating which took months to resolve as they continued to send cowboys to look at the boiler. After leaving the property in spotless condition & making lots of improvements, they tried to charge me nearly £80 for gardening & cleaning services (they also did this to the previous tenant!). How I wish my partner and I had read the other reviews for Reades on this site before deciding to rent a property through them! Given the fact that they are "Estate/Letting Agents" you would think that they would have some understanding of property law! We are from New Zealand and spent a year in the UK on a Teacher Exchange. We need to thank Reades Residential for giving us an experience of what it is to be treated as low class in the UK. We rented our own house in NZ and approached out tenancy in the UK with an open and positive attitude. What agent could do to change your mind?
Coming from overseas. They made no allowance to meet us at the house (1 mile away) even though they new we had a family with small children and had come from a 6 hour flight. At no point did they contact us to see if everything was OK, ie appliances etc work differently in the UK. They should be more proactive is getting bonds sorted especially given the immaculate way we left the house. No issues, we were to get it all back. Then why did it take 8 weeks for Reades to make it happen. It was a lot of money and needed. Its just shocking. They should learn to take responsibility for there actions. Sent me the rudest letter and just went cold when I made an appointment to talk about it. They are operating in the old class structure. Time to change.

Absolute horrid, rude and unaccomodating customer service. Kept us waiting for the deposit for more than 2 months...and still waiting. charged us with a 50% deduction off deposit despite the flat being in exactly the same condition when we moved in. Ambigous assessments before check in and after check out as the reports are clearly fabricated as per their convinience. Would never ever deal or recommend this agent ever....

We have had Reades look after our property for six years. We did have a few teething issues initially but that was down to the tenants not Reades! We have found them to be excellent throughout . Highly professional and prompt service!! I am shocked to see so many negative comments and don't believe any of them....

For those who have written of trouble getting your deposits back, I wonder if any have taken the issue up with mydeposits.co.uk arbitration scheme. I did and the result was I received 66% of my deposit in dispute back. Therefore I urge all Reades tenants having deposit problems to use this arbitartion scheme. If you need assistance in how to go about it, make a comment here so we can communicate....

My deposit was £550. When I moved out they tried to charge me £1400! I found out that if you don't voluntarily give them the extra money the only option they have is to Persue it in a small claims court! In all honesty they'll never take you to a small claims court! The time and cost involved it's just not worth it! NEVER pay them any more than the deposit amount!!!!....

Unbelievably bad service from start to finish with rude unaccommodating staff, even people that have been contracted to do work for them on their behalf have warned us that we would have nothing but problems with this letting agent. You will not get your deposit back even if the property is in a better state than you moved into it....

We found Reades to be a disgraceful letting agent. They have caused us untold problems and now that we no longer use them they refuse to communicate with us to answer our questions re the awful mess that they left us in. They also charged our tenants more than they told us that they would as their deposit for renting our property. We only discovered this when we asked them to transfer the deposit to the DPS and they declared that they had it in one of their own accounts. Be very aware all landl...

I second that 'MONEY GRABBERS'. All very nice and polite in the beginning but a different story throughout our time with them and also when you vacate the property. Told us they were not able to check us in the property when we were outside waiting to go in with all our belongings. Should have realised then on day 1 what we were in for. Notified them of serious damp issues in the house, however, the damp issues still remain since leaving 3 months later. Taking a good percentage of our deposit ...

I am afraid that we have to agree with everything you have said. Believe me they are just as bad with landlords. Please check them regularly all landlords and woe betide you if you have your insurance with them for your buildings, Please demand the full booklet or on your own heads be it. They have cost us thousands and seem to be in the business to scam any money that they can. Disgraceful people.....

Money grabbers. I damaged a cupboard which I spoke to my builder friend about which could have been fixed for £100. Then Reades tried to charge me £600. When I left they gutted the whole house and said it was my fault and then charged me a further £1567 for supposedly damaging the property. I mean it was only me in there....

They were okay before and during the tenancy period. But once you vacate, they'll take their own sweet time in refunding the deposit. Oh yeah...and they'll definitely take their cut in just doing the check out inspection...at least a 250 pounds at that!...even if you hired the same professional cleaners recommended by them!...
