We made an offer on a house being sold with Cheffins and it was accepted following much negotiation. Cheffins seemed very on the ball to start with, asking for our mortgage details, proof of funds and solicitors details quickly. The seller of the property had not found a house to purchase and so we decided to wait for this to occur before spending money on a survey. At this point Cheffins never attempted to make contact again. When we called them they always seemed unsure of the situation and w...

We have been renting a property for more than a year now. Around three months ago a few issues started creeping up with the property in that one of the fencing panels which is rotted fell over and the bedroom window would not seal properly. Cheffins agreed to send someone out to have a look at this, which they did, however nothing ever came of this and the fence and window is exactly the same as it was three months ago. About a month ago the TV aerial stopped working. Again this was raised with...

Cheffins were employed to sell my house, this they did, however, I did the only viewing and 2 days after the viewing we still had not heard from them. I telephoned and found we had an offer. After this offer was accepted, Cheffins dropped off the planet and we never heard from them again. I emailed but had no responses. Nearing completion again no contact from Cheffins, we tried to get Cheffins to find out about our chain but were lied to and fobbed off. Complained to Richard Freshwater after co...

We are very sorry to hear you feel this way as we try to offer the highest standard of service to all our clients. We were pleased to be able to sell your house within 8 days of it going on the market unfortunately, we were not involved in the upward chain and so were not able to advise you. The team have been in contact regarding your concerns and we hope to be able to resolve these as soon as possible. ...

This branch was absolutely useless. From a extremely beautiful and well-finished house in a perfect location they have managed less than 5 booking in 4 weeks and the people showing the house, we later found out, do not even know many of the features (including an attic they didnt know existed!)...

I have rented from many agencys in Cambridge and Cheffins are by far the wosrt i have come across. When we moved in the house was not cleaned as prommised. After a couple of months things started to go wrong. The house flooded twice due to the age of the house old pipes and so and when we called the agency nobody ever even came to see the house. We had radiators bursting ( again nothing from the agency) and when it leaked into the shop below us taking down there seeling with....again no sign of...

Easily the worst agents, or indeed perhaps the worst any-sort-of-organisation, I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I first encountered Cheffins three weeks ago, when I walked into their central Cambridge office and arranged a viewing for that very afternoon. Following a confirmation email regarding the appointment, my partner and I went to meet the Cheffins representative at the property. Now, since we arrived at the agreed upon (and confirmed) meeting point ten minutes early, we wai...

What agent could do to change your mind?
The agent could have changed my mind by: 1) answering phone calls 2) responding to emailed inquiries 3) actually turning up to the pre-arranged house viewing

Absolutely shoddy service! I applied for viewing on 6 different properties via email of which I received no response. I had to take time out of my working day to call them up to arrange the viewings (no apologies for the lack of communication). I was then told that half of the properties I wanted to view - the vendors had apparantly changed their minds and the houses were coming off the market. I gave dates and times of when I could view the remaining properties. I was then sent automated emails...

I was offered a position in Newmarket and was required to move immediately, so I looked at a few properties and saw that Cheffins were the estate agents. I\'ve never dealt with them before so I tried calling them directly but the phone kept ringing out. SO I emailed them saying that there was two properties that had been added to their site and I wanted to let them now. No reply, so I sent another 37 email to all branches of Cheffins as I needed the properties before someone else let them. ...

After living in a terraced house for 8 years during which time we reguarly replaced occupants our existing letting agent sold out to Cheffins. Oh dear. We are now treated like scum rather than the customer. We have found a replacement to minimise the disruption but all they do is create barriers - inflated fees that have no explanation, impossible guarantor demands and utter incompitence in dealing with simple exchange of information. They have been given 6 six weeks and a totally viable can...
