We've rented a flat through Abode / Crystal Palace branch. Shortly after we moved in, we were told that the property in under sale (which he totally forgot to mention before signing the contract); but nothing to worry about. Within a couple of months, we had to let a number of investors in for viewing numerous times. Agent asked us to be not present in the house for the viewings, which we complied.

Before the end of 6 months we've been served a Section 21 notice, so now we have to vacate the property which we thought we've rented for the whole year. I've also met the previous tenant, which was here for 6 months and had to leave because he was served Section 21 notice (he was told the property was on sale). So the the agent knew about this, and chose not to tell us.

Now, I understand everything looks legal but we are hugely inconvenienced, and misinformed by the agent. I wouldn't sign a contract if I knew from the beginning. Personally, I will never use Abode again. My experience with them is rather dissatisfying.

The best thing that Abode could do to help renters in the London market is to go out of business.

This agency is only after making as much money as possible with many unreasonable charges. Watch out the fees and inventory check, i.e. one of the many things: to rent a completely run down and never taken care of place they asked me to ...
