Would give no stars if possible. Absolute scammers. When we moved in, the house was at a despicable standard: the carpets were infected with clothes moths and larvae which destroyed hundreds of pounds worth of clothes and we were left to deal with ourselves for 8 months, the house hadn’t even been dusted before we moved in, there was a thick layer of dust over all furniture including the mattresses. The entire house reeked of cigarette smoke, both toilets hadn’t been flushed for easily weeks and we’re riddled with mould and limescale, the basement was filled with rubbish, old food, kitchen appliances and a TV, there was no WiFi for 6 weeks even though the house contract was ‘bills included’ and we had to set up our own WiFi account just to be able to do uni work, which Tomlinson then failed to pay for several months and we got cut off during exam period. Two of the Velux windows in two of the bedrooms leaked, there was black mould in three of the wardrobes, and one of the velux windows shattered randomly and nearly severely injured one tenant as centimetre thick, 6 inch long shards of glass fell from the ceiling. This window was then boarded up and not repaired for the remaining four months of the tenancy. We have photo and paper evidence of all of this. Upon vacating the property, we had the utmost respect and spent several consecutive days cleaning it from top to bottom, and left it at a far higher standard than it was left when we moved in. We again have before and after photos of the state the house was when we moved in compared to when we moved out. The company then proceeded to charge us a £360 cleaning fee which has been deducted from our deposits, as apparently they spent ‘15 hours’ cleaning it after we moved out, baring in mind it wasn’t even clean when we moved in. It is quite clear that a ‘professional’ cleaning company simply could not spend 15 hours straight cleaning a very average sized house which was already clean. The company referenced as the ‘cleaning company’ doesn’t even exist online, and we have managed to get in contact with previous tenants who were charged the exact same ‘cleaning fee’ several years before. Furthermore, on the Tomlinson website it clearly states that if any deductions were to occur, we would be contacted ten days after the end date of the tenancy, but we were not made aware of this fee for well over a month after the tenancy ended. To conclude, this company is appalling, they quite clearly take advantage of and assume that this huge deposit deduction will not be followed up, but have failed to realise the ability that we have to communicate and collate evidence. Rest assured I will not be leaving this here.
