I am extremely disappointed and angry at the service provided by Your move. I have been in my property coming up to 2 months and so far nothing had been easy apart from paying them their fees! I should have heard alarm bells before moving in when we had agreed a move in date and Your Move then tried to tell us we could no longer move in on this date. We told them that we had already told our previous land lord we were moving out and he had found new tenants!
On the day of moving in we attended the office to pay fees and complete paper work. The manager was present and he told us that he had been down to the house and wasn't happy with the state the previous tenants had left it in, and that the oven needed looking at. Assuming that it just needed a quick hover and the oven a wipe over we said this was fine (there was nothing we could do about it now anyway). The house was DISGUSTING! The previous tenants had made now attempt to clean what so ever! They had also left behind the junk that they didn't want. The oven is thick with grease and burnt food. They had a week between the date they were moving out and the time we moved in (although we have since found out they moved out 2 days after there tenancy ended)
Over the next week or so we phoned the office numerous times to complain, asking to speak to the manager who was never in the office and would never call us back. We phoned the maintenance office and our problems were logged and someone who apparently phone us back, but never did.
During this time the back door handle also broke and we now cant exit the house via the back in any way.
We continued to make calls to both the office and the maintenance line. On one occasion after driving past the office and seeing the manager sat at his desk we phone the office only to be told that he wasn't in the office and would call us back!
Only after making a formal complaint did two contractors appear on the same afternoon. We then waited a week and another contractor was sent round.
2 months later we are still waiting with no oven and a broken back door, which in my view is a health and safety risk.

I am absolutely disgusted that this company could take so much money from us and provide such as appalling service!

I have to admit I have had a great experience with Your Move, there is I think a new Lettings Lady in there, and she has been very helpful - even getting involved with a property they do not manage!! Which I am so grateful for! So it looks like they have made changes over the last 2 years.
Sadly all agents charge ridiculous fee's this is the 3rd agent I have rented through, most of them charge the same all the agenst fee's are now clearly displayed so you can check especially if the property is on with someone else as well - that is why i viewed it with your move because they were £50 cheaper than the other!

We are absolutely disgusted with Your Move. We placed an offer in at full asking price for a property - something didn't feel right from the beginning and always felt like we were being fobbed off. 3 weeks later we've just been informed that another buyer has come in and placed an offer way above the asking price and that this buyer viewed the house before us and contacted the owner directly, the owner contacted Your Move and they investigated that the buyer was apparently genuine and they have accepted their offer!
Apparently this is Legal in the eyes of the law, but my problem was the feeling that I was being lied to about when we could review the house again, the fact that the offer took so long to be accepted. Even if everything is to be blamed on the owner - I think it's very poor show that we've lost money and that just telling us 'it's out of our hands' even though they'll be getting a bigger cut from the house sell - reimburse us for our fees?!? I think not as the 'Manager' didn't even call us back such as we were promised.
Do not use! Something very dodgy about them and morals do not play any part.

Look I too find the service useless and unprofessional and I do feel so sorry for you. As a landlord I know the 6 month up from rent is usually due to the fact that your credit history is not up to scratch and the landlord has said yes to you on the premise that you pay 6 months up front due to the risk you present financially. If your credit score is good then this should not be happening. They use Experian to check you out - get a free credit score off them to make sure your details are right.
I agree do not hand over any money until you have read and agreed the contract - you are not bound by law until you have signed. I had a tenant pull out (via YM) at the last minute and they left me out of pocket and I did not get a penny.

Complain to them first - then to the Ombudsman

Also keep reposting your complaints here and on other websites so that other people are aware of the issues and do not become victims like the rest of us.

Hello BAFFsi, it may be worth contacting Citizens Advice bureau, or trading standards if they were lying about things. I wouldnt want to hand over that amount of money, 6 months worth of rent seems very odd. I wouldnt pay anything until you have a contract. It seems that Yourmove constantly seem to have excuses and are fobbing people off! Sorry to hear your in a similar predicament.

I am just reading your review and I am absolutely devastated! We have paid Your Move security deposit, we are about to move end of November and I am already fed up with their service. They want us to pay 6 months in advance + high agency fees + deposit of 700. They haven't even sent us any contract or anyhting because their printer has been broken. They are rubbish, they told us some lies at the viewing which we only found out now! I do want to sent them a complaint but now I don't know if it is worth. Is there any agency above them to complain about their service?? Any idea?
