We've recently purchased a house and mainly dealt with Tessa, she was brilliant and helpful throughout the process and easy to get hold of to answer any questions we had, quick to reply to emails and very helpful. However when we went to view the property we purchased and one we viewed previous to this one, we were shown around by Shona, of whom didn't turn up, so I had to call the branch to remind her and she said that our appointment wasnt until 2.30pm. Of which the time was now 2.45pm so she said she would be along asap, to which she was, but she didn't bring the house keys, which is a fundamental part of house viewing. So once she had gone back to the office to collect the keys and returned we weren't overally happy with having to wait around so much. On another occasion when viewing with Shona she rushed us round the house (second viewing) and we didn't feel as though we could measure all the bits we wanted to. We had a 30 minute appointment, but after 15 we were being ushered out. We went outside to look at the garage while Shona locked up the house, then she said she had to go, leaving us to lock up the garage and see ourselves off. Which we found most unprofessional.
But other than some dreadful viewings the experience was as you expect with house buying. Tessa was brilliant can't fault her at all, but I'd certainly not advise having any viewings with Shona. It's worth requesting someone else, which we did and we had a lovely young lad show us around, who was brilliant, I can't remember his name but he was very good.

Some final notes on this case: even though I was satisfied with the DPS decision in my favour, I decided I wasn't happy with the way that Douglas & Simmons handled my complaint, and re-submitted the complaint to the Property Ombudsman. The Ombudsman, after reviewing the complaint, agreed with my claim for a further small sum towards unnecessary costs I incurred during tenancy due to delayed repairs (a delay of six months).
