Dear Montana,

I feel the time is long overdue for me to drop you a line and express my gratitude for all the help you and your team have given me over the last five years, when it fell to me to 'take charge' of my mother's affairs.

Two quite daunting tasks presented themselves at that difficult time. Sorting out dignified care for my mother's final years, and becoming a landlord overnight, organising the rental of her home to offset the incredibly high cost of her ongoing care.

The first task, my wife and I managed to muddle through!

We were lucky enough to get mum into a place where her final years were spent among friends and under the constant care of compassionate and dedicated professionals. It is a strange phrase to use, but it was a 'good end'.

The second task was a whole different kettle of fish.

As I have told you on several occasions, I must surely hold the title of 'The World's Most Reluctant Landlord'! I knew nothing about the legalities and obligations that came with the role, and literally didn't know where to start.

Then along came Whitlocks!

You were recommended to me by a friend who had used you for many years (always the best kind of recommendation in my book) and I came to see you with an open mind to seek professional advice, and you delivered.

The list is endless. Very competitive rates for a full management service, finding new tenants throughout the time the property was rented, ensuring the property was never empty for any length of time, collecting the rent, organising safety checks, recommending tradesmen to do the maintenance that was beyond my skills, regular property inspections, etc, etc, etc.

In doing so you have virtually taken on the role of landlord and spared me a huge amount of stress, as well as shielded me from falling foul of laws and legislation that I simply wasn't aware of.

Now, as we near the end of our relationship (yes, I'm relieved but a little sad!) you have excelled yourselves yet again.

Having offered us by far the best rate to market the property from the three local agents I contacted, you then managed to get us a buyer (the very best type, namely a first timer) at a price that was towards the top end of what we were expecting, within a week. Just incredible!

Finally, I must single out Natasha for a special mention for going 'above and beyond the call of duty' over the years. I do of course realise she is your daughter, and as such you could be forgiven for sometimes taking her for granted, but you need to be told.

She is an absolute credit to you and you should feel very proud of the young lady she had become. We have all had periods in our lives that we would prefer to sidestep if we could 'go around again', and I'm sure Natasha is the same. What really matters is where we are and who we are today.

Natasha is polite, knowledgeable, helpful and a wonderful ambassador for your company. With a family business there can often be unique issues and rivalries that other types of business are spared. Certainly in my experience you and Natasha have settled into a solid working relationship which is driving the business forward.

With Natasha on board, I think we will continue to see Whitlocks boards all over town for many years to come!

Once again Montana, thank you for your outstanding help and expertise over the years. I wish you, Natasha and the rest of the team every success in the future.
