Terrible experience from start to finish. Made even worse by their property management office CountryWide.
I only spent 3 months in the property I rented through Bairstow Eves as from the day I moved in, there were problems with the water works in the house and in the whole time (over winter) I was there, the Landlord never got the problem sorted, just covered over the issue cosmetically. Even though at one point there was water coming through the ceiling (next to the light fitting) from the upstairs bathroom - this wasn't deemed as unsafe! The staff at Bairstow Eves, whilst on the whole, were fairly polite, there was one occasion where the manager shouted at me over the phone (totally unprofessional) for simply wanting to have some information as to when the repairs would take place.
Too many other issues to go into, but the main reason I left the property after only 3 months. I decided to leave after the first 3 weeks, but due to finding replacement tenants, it ended up being three months. I left to move back in with my parents as could not even face the thought of having to deal with difficult agents again.
Countrywide, the property management company used are even worse. The problem with the repairs in the house were escalated to them and the member of staff we had to deal with there was even more rude and unprofessional than I could imagine, I seriously do not understand how people so rude are offered customer service facing roles. 8 months on (I left the property in January 2017), and I needed a Landlord reference to enter into a new tenancy agreement (this time through a private landlord and avoiding agents at all costs!) so unfortunately have had to contact Countrywide again.
This time, I got the reference I needed but have been charged a fee which I already paid back in January so am awaiting a refund. Countrywide acknowledged the error in deducting the amount from me and kindly agreed to refund me asap. That was on 28th July. It doesn't suprise me that almost 3 weeks later, a formal complaint and numerous phone calls - I am yet to receive my refund.
Thought it was about time I wrote a review to warn other poor tenants.
