We were disappointed with our experience of buying a property through Taylor Cole, overall.
The initial viewings went well with Finela (sp) - my husband and I viewed separately due to our work patterns. Once we had negotiated an acceptable offer, things began to go downhill. It took a couple of weeks to get Taylor Cole to mark the property as sold on the internet and for the for sale board to change to sold after we had financially committed to the property by submitting a mortgage application (inc. paying for a valuation) and instructing a solicitor. We repeatedly rang to find out why the property wasn't marked as sold only to be told that it was because the owner hadn't instructed a solicitor. This seemed unfair to us because we'd proved ourselves as committed to the property and done everything that was asked and yet we were at risk of being gazumped. Taylor Cole ensured us they weren't actively marketing the property, but we knew they were legally required to put any offers forward to the owner , so we could have been out of pocket by about 600-700 pounds. To top it off, when we booked a measure up appointment and for my mum to view, we had only been booked in for 15 minutes. I had expected at least 30 minutes given that I had many measurements to take. At this point, we seriously considered pulling out of the purchase because we'd lost faith in Taylor Cole.
We received a handful of calls from Taylor Cole after that. The proactive calls they made to us were to ask if we had exchanged every time. They did not seem to have any idea what was happening during the sales progression. We never received an update from them as far as I'm aware. We just communicated everything through our solicitor - thank goodness she was good! When we did speak to Taylor Cole, it was to negotiate with the owner following the results of the electrical report etc. They were helpful and did come back to us - although it was confusing dealing with different people at every call.
