WARNING:

Property agents at Black Bear Lettings are:
- un-trustful
- unreliable
- not professional
- hiding the truth or providing only parts of it
My story:
At the begging of November 2011, my and my (pregnant) girlfriend decided to rent a bigger house before Christmas. We have visited a number of properties and decided that we will go with Black Bear lettings. We have set the moving date for the
17th of December.
There still a couple of maintenance jobs to be completed at the property - as I have already send a notice to my current landlady, I needed to make sure that everything is being done and that we will have a place to move to. I have contacted them many times and I was assured that everything will be done, all running to schedule and will be fine to move in on 17th
On the 17th of December, I went down to the office to pick up the keys. When is came in the agent told me that he could not contact the landlord for the last week! Despite the fact that I have contacted the agent at least 3 times during this week, he did not tell me about this problem.
I have waited 3 extra days but agency failed to get the keys to the property.
After 3 days I have told them that I am going to back out of the deal and I would like my £160 (that I have paid for the reference check back). I was informed that this fee was not refundable and I will not be able to get it back.
I have tried to contacting the agent after that but he was never in the office and he has also changed his mobile number
To summarise:
- I was left with nowhere to leave with my pregnant partner just before Christmas (how bad is that)
- I was ripped of for £160
- The agent failed to tell me the truth.
I would not recommend contacting Black Bear even to my bigger enemy. They are not capable of finding a property to rent - never mind to buy.
