gatekeeper really disappointed me at the end of my tenancy. you are suppose to receive your deposit back about 10 days after the report, I received mine a month after because gatekeeper were trying to charge me ridiculous fees-e.g. water marks on the sink. I was not happy about the amount of cleaning charges there were when me and my family had spent hours cleaning the place. Then when i argued it Lucy told me that my landlady was going to charge me £400 and that she had worked really hard to get it down for me which was a load of rubbish as I had been in contact with my landlady and she asked them to drop the fees. I was very disappointed that Lucy/gatekeeper lied to me.
However this was just the start. when paying my rent for my last month I questioned why it was the amount it was and did it include check out fees. I was told it did not include check out fees and it was because I have to pay a full months rent for the month i moved in and the month I left. I accepted this but then felt this to be unfair as I had not lived there for a month in total( I moved in towards the end of the month and left half way through another month) I figured that they were unable to calculate it the way they had as i was being charged for days i did not live there. I worked out the daily rate and then times it by the number of days in total and figured out that they were trying to rob me of over £100 and they knew it as I had already questioned it and they again had lied to me.
gatekeeper took longer than necessary sending me the correct check out report after sending the wrong one again. When i accepted the report ready for my deposit to be returned it conveniently bounced from my account and gatekeeper were saying it was probably the wrong details, I confirmed the details were correct. They sent the payment again and it went through, they did refund me on my overpayment of rent, but if i had not picked up on this they would have got away with robbing me of my money, which they have probably got away with doing to a lot of people. Be very vigilant if you rent with gatekeeper - I certainly will not be in the future, as I am disgusted with their shocking service and am not interested in any response they have to give me, especially as it is likely to be untrue!
Comment on agent fees
I was not happy with the first check out report and the fees i was going to be charged, however thanks to my landlady's support I was not charged unreasonable fees in the end.
