Of course I would have preferred to pay a lower fee, that’s obvious. I paid 1.5% - in the current climate I would negotiate a lower percentage, but at the time I didn’t realise this was an option. These days estate agents have lots of competition, so I would advise anyone to shop around.

I like that it is a fixed fee, rather than a percentage-based fee, which probably contributed to them being happy for me to adjust my price for a quicker sale. Other properties similar to mine have been on the market for more money for a lot longer, represented by other agencies.
