Before we bought our first home, we thought that the process was going to be an absolute nightmare. We had heard horror stories about terrible, rude estate agents, inflated markets and crazy bidding wars, and were dreading the whole ordeal! Until we met Tom Sexton from Martyn Gerrard. It is no exaggeration to say that he is an absolute prince among estate agents. From the moment we met him, he put us at ease, made us feel like important clients, didn't try to push up our budget or tell us we were being unrealistic about what we were hoping to get for our money, and was friendly, honest and sincere. The arrogance and rudeness that is so symptomatic of this profession just isn't there with Tom - he is a genuinely great guy and his customer service is second to none. Other estate agents we dealt with directed us to properties that were either way out of our price range, were nothing like what we had said we were interested in, and/or were in areas we hadn't even mentioned that we wanted to look in - essentially wasting our time and then making us feel terrible when we said they weren't what we were looking for! I started to honestly believe that the standard phrase for the industry was "you need to readjust your expectations as what you're looking for isn't realistic". But within days of meeting him, Tom had found us a range of properties to look at that ticked all the boxes in terms of what we were hoping to buy. He listened so well to our requirements in fact that the second place we looked at was exactly what we'd hoped for! And rather than adopting the approach of the other agents we had dealt with and scaremongering us into putting in a crazy offer, Tom was thoughtful and honest . Our offer was thankfully accepted and from that moment Tom went absolutely out of his way to make sure that things moved smoothly for us. He is incredibly responsive and always deals with everything with a smile and a friendly, caring manner that truly makes what should be a stressful process an absolute breeze. Thanks to him, our entire buying process took exactly 6 weeks from the time we put in our offer to the day we picked up our keys and was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. All in all, we can't thank Tom enough for everything he did for us in buying our property. He is an absolute star, and if everyone in the world could have an estate agent as brilliant as him, the industry would have a very different reputation!
