They were appaling right from the start. They took my non-refunable £250 holding deposit without telling me the shower didn't work and was unfixable because it was a pressure issue. They also 'forgot' to mention until after I had paid that the previous tenant passed away in the bathroom. I got a phone call after they had my money and they said 'I assume that isn't a problem'. Well yes actually, it was. I think they purposefully circumvented the issued becuase I would not have taken the flat had I known. I called and emailed several times before I moved in to request details of how to pay the remaning deposit and I got no answer. About an hour before I was due to get the keys (half way up the M3 on my move from dorset to London) I get a call saying I can't have the keys until I've paid the deposit! Thank goodness for mobile banking. When I got to the office the paperwork wasn't ready and the woman couldn't even find a pen. She couldn't get in touch with anyone to check the deposit funds had been recieved. After a few calls I offered to go to the bank to get a print out from my account & she declined. After another hours of unsucessful calls and faffing she asked me to go to the bank. Meanwhile, all my stuff is waiting in a van outside the flat with the delivery men, who I was paying. When we got there I still couldn't move in as they had waited until the last minute to tell the inventory check in people I was moving in, so I had to wait for them to do that. I could go on (and on and on) but I think I've made my point.
Better communication, don\'t lie to a potential tenant or withhold facts.

13 Nov 2013Think I got the same "lady"! In a hurry as on a parking meter . Totally ignored by all the staff who looked like they were in the middle of a tea break and then all went on the phone....
Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
