Called up 8 different times to book viewings for different properties with different branches, Pontypridd, Rumney, Caerphilly and Newport, over the last month and a half. The branches never answer their own calls and instead have a concierge service who pretends to work for Darlows, who take down your details. After the 7th time, we'd pretty much given up calling properties listed with Darlows, but on the 8th call we were amazed to receive a call back from Diane at Pontypridd, who told us we need to speak to their mortgage advisor to have our offer substantiated, before we can book a viewing and that was due to the current coronavirus situation and government guidelines (I couldn't find such a thing mentioned in the government guidelines here https://gov.wales/moving-home-during-coronavirus-pandemic or here https://gov.wales/moving-home-during-coronavirus-pandemic-housing-sector, but I did notice that Darlows aren't doing virtual viewings or always putting floorplans like specifically mentioned in the guidelines). It is illegal for an Estate Agent to force the use of their mortgage advisor, but Darlows have gotten around this by insisting that you must speak with their advisor for an affordability check including an Agreement in Principle, before they will even let you view the property, their mortgage advisor charges £60 for an AIP and they won't accept an agreement in principle from one of the largest brokers in the UK.
