Listed our house with both Blundells and House Simple. After a few months we'd had a single phone call from Blundells to let us know it had listed, and that was the extent of our contact. We had 0 viewings, 0 follow up communications, 0 information from Blundells. Our house had lots of viewings through House Simple, offers and finally a sale. We let Blundells know we had accepted an offer, and they said they would keep us on the market until completion - but a couple of days later the 'for sale' sign just disappeared and we heard nothing more. Sure, they didn't need to do any more, but is it not just courteous to call? In the same way we kept them up to date with the other side. We had also been purchasing a house through Blundells. But 6 months had passed since our initial offer (the vendor had kept the property on the market the whole time) and it became very obvious to us that it was overpriced (no other interest or offers during that huge period). We tried numerous times to re-negotiate the price, and asked Blundells double check their valuation - ending in us pulling out due to them not taking £2.5k less that we originally offered. The house has now sold another 4 months later for £62k under what we had offered - much more realistically to the area it was in - but a huge miss for the vendor. It's possible the vendor was very stubborn, but it felt a lot more like Blundells did not stress we were going to look elsewhere. They came back to us 2 weeks after pulling out with a £10k reduction, but too little and too late. Once again they didn't achieve a negotiation lower (which I discussed could reinterest us) and I believe that vendor lost out on a lot more money... Overall, this was an absolutely terrible experience using them, and from both sides of the market in one go! We'd avoided them before due to the costs, but we got a good deal from them this time, we won't bother again no matter what the deal!

I'm sorry I ever went anywhere near Blundells. Service has been poor from the start - they failed to put half of our deposit into a DPS and left it floating around in our account. Where to start with this shambolic outfit? The only thing they actually manage is the removal of your money. 1. Have a single fee of 10% with no hidden add-on costs 2. Have a single person who you can be confident will deal with all your issues with regard to a property 3. Employ enough experienced staff so that the staff do have time to deal with your issues as they arise 4. Issue proper readable contracts

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
