We made an offer on a property - offer accepted and we were moving forward with the deal. Our solicitor found out that the sellers didn't own the property legally and therefore the sellers' solicitor couldn't answer any of our questions or concern regarding the property. It turns out that there is still a charge from the previous (real) owner on the property and the house shouldn't be on the market after all. We thought the estate agents didn't know so we informed them the reason why we were withdrawing our offer. We lost thousands of pounds paying for reports, surveys, and solicitor's fees. Immediately after withdrawing and warning them about all those issues, the house was put back on the market, and a neighbour has informed us that people are being shown around. Douglas & Gordon, now in full knowledge, are leading other people down the same path - to waste money on a property that is not available for purchase, through extremely shady sellers.

9 Jan 2019I am the former owner of 12 MM (NW6 5PT). The house was sold at a cheap price to two dodgy men from Birmingham. The house is still on the market today. I am sorry you lost lots of money on solicitors fees, surveys etc. It is not my fault. I lost my home of over 20 years. It is now advertised as 'under offer'. It isn't under offer. A deliberate ploy by Douglas and Gordon so they can claim the offer 'felll through' and it can be advertised as a 'new' property on Rightmove which will wipe out the original listing date of September 2017. I am so sorry you lost money. Good luck in your search for a home.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
