One star is quite generous. I cannot possibly express just bad Miles & Barr are. It would be easy to think this is just a rant from a disgruntled tenant but after the time, money and love that was put into our property we have been treated like something someone has stepped in. We have respect for our home and have looked after it as though it was our own. The outgoing inventory supports this. Throughout the whole tenancy we were constantly praised for how nice, clean and decorated the property was, paid in advance and always kept on top of everything
They haven’t a clue about the law, children and disabilities. Property managers definitely aren’t employed for their brains nor their experience. Lucy Horne is particularly awful. Rude, self entitled and so unprofessional. The overall lettings manager struggles with anything that requires important attention and hides behind her computer.
We had been warned prior to renting with them that they were a nightmare, however we loved the house and area so took the house.
Trying to get anything done is hard work, which is why we did so much as tenants to the property ourselves. If we waited for them each time the house would have gone into ruin! As it is the house was left in immaculate condition and a brand new garden for new tenants to enjoy!
Be warned they will actively discriminate against disabled children. As tenants we did everything to the house but we asked for one little arrangement and the agent and landlord thought breaking the law was the better option. Even better was issuing a section 21 in revenge for reporting the discrimination and lying saying the landlord was selling only to see it being re let! Honesty is not Miles & Barr.
Also be warned make sure you sign the inventory and record deliver any differences because they will try screwing your over and charging for things that do not on the ingoing and outgoing inventory. You have to threaten them with dispute to get your money back. They did this to my neighbour down one and to us.

After reading the poor reviews not only on the Broadstairs branch but all Miles and Barr branches, i am glad to see that its not just us that recieved such bad service, lies, unprofessionalism, poor communication and bad attitudes from this company.

After reading the poor reviews not only on the Broadstairs branch but all Miles and Barr branches, i am glad to see that its not just us that recieved such bad service, lies, unprofessionalism, poor communication and bad attitudes from this company. I would not recommend using this company at all, with their high fees, lack of compassion for the vendor and purely only out to get their money with far too many incompetent staff twiddling their thumbs in the office, not passing messages on, making inaccurate notes on feedback and actually lying about feedback when it hasnt even been given as yet simply just to benefit themselves. They tie you in with a sole agent contract and then close to that expiring, try to get you to reduce the price of your property, spinning a load of bull as to why it should be reduced despite not even drawing in many viewings and none of the feedback relating to the cost of the property. The sales agent will value the property and say that its their aim is to get the vendor as much money as possible for the property but really their all about the sale in that time span and will do and say what they need to to get it, dont be fooled!!!

DO NOT USE MILES AND BARR TO RENT A PROPERTY. Absolutely awful- we were left with no shower for over a month with zero compensation and were kept completely out of the loop this entire time, despite regularly phoning them asking for a timescale. After handing notice in to leave our flat, only 2 hours notice was giving before arranging viewings that same day and most of the time this was during work hours. The staff are rude and sarcastic and do not treat tenants as human beings or have any respect for their customers.

Awful service. Staff have no self-awareness. Made a couple of complaints, Manager spoke to me and said he'd look in to things and come back to me - never did. When chased said he didn't realise he needed to call back. We gave notice of just over 3 weeks as they tied us in to a 20 week contract (my fault, didn't read it properly and they didn't highlight the fact, obviously) - haven't had a viewing for more than a month and when we asked to be let out a week early (bearing in mind no viewings or contact for a month), the Manager said "no, can't do that I'm afraid". Purely vindictiveness, no levels of professionalism whatsoever; no surprise from us at all. Would never recommend them or use them again.

Every time I called they either didn't answer the phone or were training and calls were diverted to their Head Office, who either didn't pass on messages or the branch just couldn't be bothered to return call.
My friend is having problems at the moment with them and it is holding up the purchase of their property by weeks !!!!
I would never deal with them again.

Very poor customer service said about Miles & Barr

I travelled from Chelmsford to view an apartment in Broadstairs. I made an offer the same day and from then on the service I received was the worst I have ever received from an Estate Agent. Dan Woodward claims he does not leave messages on the phone as it it his policy not to do so, so I was completely unaware that my offer had not been accepted. I also needed advice about a top up mortgage but again heard nothing until I called them. When I eventually got a phone call from them on Thursday 11th August I was assured I would get a call the following day. Again nothing. I checked on line to see that the apartment had been removed. I called today to be told an offer had been accepted. At no time did anyone from this Estate agent keep me informed. It is very bad customer service.
